Dance-plus Performance Critical Analysis Paper
Theatre Space
The exciting and breathtaking dance-plus performance took place on the multipurpose hall with a scene of dancing styles show. Mason Gross from the School of Arts specifically the dance faculty showcases his choreography skills. The nine students from Mason Gross presented the dance performance in nine minutes to show the different dancing styles and body movements. The scene had a clear view with a rectangular thrust stage that projected into the auditorium with the audiences sitting on the three sides. Thus, the stage developed great intimacy between the actors and the audience. Besides, the theatre gave everyone a view as the dancers moved around the stage. Moreover, the theatre had a raised rectangular platform stage at one end of the multipurpose hall with the audience facing the scene that has a curtain covers on one side away from the audience. Separately, the theatre space was fascinating, entertaining and intriguing as the viewers had the experience of dancing styles. Thus, every person had engagement with performance about the shape of theatre that reveals the happy mood, collective commitment and a feel of intimacy.
Pavement Dance with Softness, Lush and Seductive Moves
The Mason Gross students provided an immediate intimacy in their softness and seductive moves. I usually gravitate towards a given dancing style and not able to grasp every step. Nevertheless, I chose the Mason Gross dancing styles as they deviate from the hip-hop dance to a more smooth that soothes slow rhythm music. Moreover, I am a dancer who loves slow moves with zeal for both modern and old love songs. Thus, I found the dance plus performance to be fascinating, entertaining and intriguing. I appreciated how each of the hops was seductive with slow kinetic moves that could not pass beyond the bright light rays. Thus, I kept my eyes on every move across the platform. For example, the “Pavement” and “Protein Spill” performance revealed the stages and progression of lovers in a relationship with ups and downs in ensuring that such relationships stay long. The dancers portrayed the feeling it moves all over the platform that made my eyes to walk all around.
The visual aesthetics of the dance performance was fantastic. I loved the background lighting that was cool with bits of brightness that smoothly alternate with dimness. Besides, the lighting scheme of the space incorporated color index with flexibility and control of the light beam about the architectural design of the theatre. Furthermore, the LED dimming on the platform provided top quality. Such low light with low-speed in change gave high quality. Lastly, the down-light and top quality dimming control gave the excellent condition of light created excitement and elicited emotion through the even fades on stage.
Separately, the pairing of dancers reminded me of the closeness of couples with bits of soft and rough touches to imitate excellent and bad moments in a relationship.
