Dalton G, in this article, presents research on the relationship between supportive family attributes for youths and their engagement in drug abuse and sexual practices, activities that put the youths’ behaviors at risk. A single-parent family is found to be among the greatest contributions to the increase in the percentage of young people living in poverty. Besides, young people living in households headed by single parents have caused a rise in at-risk behavior among them. According to a literature review in this article, the number of two-parent families has reduced significantly, leading to an increase in poor children. The article is relevant and useful for the topic of study since it addresses the economic status of single-parent families.
