Alzola, M. (2017). Decent Work: The Moral Status of Labor in Human Resource Management. Journal of Business Ethics, 147(4), 835-853. doi:10.1007/s10551-017-3507-5
The human resource is supposed to cater to the needs of its employees effectively. However, research has proven that most human resource management systems do not adhere to international legal standards that are acceptable by the International Labor Organization (ILO). The research by Miguel Alzolais focused on the ethical deficit that is experienced by human resource management and HR practices. The author elaborates on how undisclosed-threshold assumptions explain these ethical deficits. The paper also aims to prove if the United Nations Global Compact is capable of providing solutions to ethical issues in HRM. The journal also examines how the UN Global Compact’s concept of “decent work” can offer avenues that promote ethics in HRM.
The paper is selected for its information regarding how HRs is supposed to handle legal issues with employees. The research proves vital to the topic as it gives a possible solution to the roles of HR in upholding the ethical responsibility of the organization.
Theodorakopoulos, N., & Budhwar, P. (2015). Guest Editors' Introduction: Diversity and Inclusion in Different Work Settings: Emerging Patterns, Challenges, and Research Agenda. Human Resource Management, 54(2), 177-197. doi:10.1002/hrm.21715

It shows that existing literature on workplace diversity and inclusion (D&I) is gaining international currency among human resource managers including organizational leaders from emerging economies. The author reviews diverse intellectual heritage and notes the themes that key in figuring out the complexity of contemporary diversity and inclusion inquiry. This review forms the basis of the determination of how the integrative framework of diversity and inclusion management is appropriated and meaningful. The author concludes by giving a broad institutionalist framework for management of D&I which integrates key concepts. The framework can help scholars and HR managers to conceptualize the approaches of D&I management, predict possible outcomes and embrace different dimensions of multiple interactions from macro, meso, and microanalysis level.
The research is precious as it gives a framework that can be implemented in the real world to reduce instances of discrimination on the available employment opportunities.
