The main point of Kasumovic’s (2014) article is the opposition of the author against the statement of many people that biological sex is unimportant in sports. Kasumovic (2014) discussed that this is because of a tremendous difference in physiological qualities, where women’s bodies are designed for reproductivity, while men’s bodies are designed for hunting. The solution is to have a co-ed sport while maintaining a female-only sport to open both sexes’ possibilities. The author discussed the International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) statement regarding gender segregation because male-biased concepts have long guided society. The IeSF stated that
This article’s information is credible because it utilized data from the IeSF. The solution provided by the IeSF gives women an opportunity to choose whether or not they would like to participate in a male-dominated sport. By providing women all the possible options, it becomes fair to everyone, such that they are not forced into a place where they can feel uncomfortable by competing for head-on with the opposite sex.
This article supports the argument that sports can be segregated by gender employing equity, which is different from equality. Kasumovic (2014) supported the decision of the IeSF and suggested for the organization to genuinely embrace their visions by giving everyone the right to compete against the contenders that they choose.
