This article is a review that highlights significant recent and upcoming developments in the area of known or potential reproductive toxic chemicals used in the workplace. It also discusses some potential health implications. The author states that many potentially toxic substances are still used in many workplaces. Many workers are exposed to such hazards daily due to a lack of information about potential effects on reproductive health. Therefore, they do not consider any protective measures to safeguard their health. Some employees may experience sexual or reproductive issues due to specific toxicant-workplace scenarios. Data was gathered from peer-reviewed literature about the dangers that toxicants pose to workers' reproductive systems.
Discussion topics included when and how reproductive harm occurred, the kinds of reproductive health issues that might arise, and how employees could determine whether a chemical or work environment posed risks to their reproductive health. The results found that the number of live births, decreasing likelihood of conception, or lengthening gestation period comprise ways that reduced fertility can be expressed. Age and ethnicity comprise variables that can make it difficult to interpret data regarding workplace exposure to hazardous chemicals. Even though it might be challenging to distinguish between maternal and paternal exposures, paternal exposure can contribute to developmental toxicity.
