Personal Statement Instructions:
Am applying to Physician Assistant school and need to write a General Personal Statement and a Military Personal Statement. Below are the instructions for each statement: General Personal Statement: Please compose a personal narrative statement that answers the following questions. As you compose this personal narrative statement, please include reflections on the following: 1. Why did you select MEDEX Northwest and what can the MEDEX program teach you? 2. How do you think having a Master's degree will effect your future options? 3. What are the biggest challenges you face by returning to school and what will you contribute to your MEDEX classmates? Military Personal Statement: Please compose a personal narrative statement that answers the following question. Which aspect of your Military experience prepared you to enter the MEDEX program and become a Physician Assistant? Below is a brief Narrative about my career that can help with writing this essay. And i am also attaching my resume to also help with the paper. Personally as I have progressed through life, I have always sought to develop and follow an aspiration, or more specifically a career, that encompasses both being a helpful member of society and financial stability. By becoming a physician assistant one would certainly be able to aid countless individuals. I have always had a passion for patient care this encouraged me to enlist in the Navy to be Hospital Corpsman. There I was able to work closely with Doctors and Nurses providing care to sailors and their dependents. I worked in the Labor and delivery Department for two years then I was transferred to the Post and Pre partum ward where I worked for another two years. After that experience I was transferred to the Health promotions department where I taught health classes and held health fairs for sailors and civilians in the community. I decided to get into the technical side so I went to Medical Laboratory Technology School where I only had little patient interaction. I have been working in the Laboratory field for about 8yrs now. Not until I was deployed to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany where wounded warriors i.e. Soldiers, Sailors, Air force and Marines are taken for treatment, this is the place where they are stabilized and flown to the state for further treatment. I realized how much I miss interacting and providing care to patients. Seeing all the wounded military personnel come in with all sorts of injuries and how I was able to provide care and also giving them a sense of reassurance made me realize how much I miss patient care, this was when I made my decision to be a Physician Assistant. I am a people's person; love to put smiles on peoples faces, that gives me a sense of satisfaction and with my experiences both in the military and civilian world I know I have a lot to offer the community. From engaging in the simplest routines to providing support in the most pressing scenarios, being a physician assistant is without doubt in its essence a task that requires one to support the public welfare. Furthermore, despite the necessity to function within a group led by a physician, physician assistants are still undeniably important in providing the best care to patients. It is clear that becoming a physician assistant is the ideal personal choice, as it coincides with both my goals and aspirations.

Being a physician assistant at MEDEX would certainly go a long way in offering me an opportunity to serve humanity.
I am interested in joining MEDEX northwest because of its reputation and commitment to educating and training experienced health personnel from varied backgrounds. Trainees are also given an opportunity to practice medicine under the supervision of a physician. The MEDEX program has a focus on primary care with an emphasis on rural or underserved populations, which fits with my career aspirations of serving the needy in the society. MEDEX training emphasizes on the need for continuous learning to meet the ever-changing health needs. This is why i have chosen to go back to school even though i have a master’s degree and many years of experience working in different positions in the health sector. MEDEX is a pioneer in physician assistant education and has continued to fill gaps for personal assistants in a bid to expand health care access.
