Speaking Test: Shakespeare “Macbeth” 
Scene
In Act II, scene 1, Banquo talks with his son Fleance in the middle of the night, and Macbeth suddenly appears.
Banquo reveals that he had dreamed of the three witches, he appeared restless and suggested that the prophecy was likely to be fulfilled.
The scene foreshadow that there will be more dark things coming, “Their candles are all out. Take thee that too. A heavy summons lies like lead upon me,” (5-6)
Character
Banquo is a brave general who fought with Macbeth before he became a king encountered the three witches together with Macbeth in the opening scene; while Banquo is ambitions like Macbeth he was not ready to betray the king so that his children would inherit the throne.
Context and significance of this character
The importance of Banquo is that his interpretation of the prophecy remains different from that of Macbeth, as he expresses skepticism about this.
Banquo thinks of the prophecy in the future, but Macbeth thinks of the present and identified threats that would compromise this.
Macbeth was determined to be the King by all costs, and this included eliminating Banquo to be assured of the reign.
The theme of “Computing Power of unchecked ambition”
The theme of computing power of unchecked ambition means that power corrupts when there are no constraints. Macbeth plots to kill King Duncan to take his throne and his wife, Lady Macbeth supports her husband in his ambitions, but she also suffers when then there is increased bloodshed and instability.
