Jean Watson’s Philosophy and Science of Caring
Introduction
The main purpose and objective of nursing is caring. Nursing is thus evolving both in knowledge and practice in consideration to the type of care offered and what is expected to be offered. There are various theories which have been developed by various scientists, but one of the best is the theory of transpersonal relationship developed by Jean Watson CITATION Fav12 \l 1033 (Favero, Pagliuca, & Lacerda, 2012). The theory outlines that the nurses can’t work alone, and therefore they have to interrelate with each other. The relationship is two-way. The nursing practitioners have to interact with other nurses while they deliver services to the patient or people who are seeking medical attention. The theory explains how the patient and the nurse becomes one during the attendance and deliverance of the services. Analysis of the Watson’s article (2011) on the transpersonal concepts helps us understand the choice which has been made and how the concepts qualify to be effective to the society.
Method of Analysis
The article analyzes the theory of transpersonal relationship, how and why it is effective to the nursing field and the society at large. The article uses descriptive analysis. In this analysis, the author synthesizes information on the concepts of transpersonal caring therefore we can realize the valuable and the effective concepts to apply in nursing (Clark, 2016). The descriptive analysis has advantages of taking into consideration both the quantitative and the qualitative approaches in describing what the theory is all about. This makes it the most appropriate method I describing theoretical concepts (McEwen & Willis, 2014). The practice of nursing is very critical therefore the analysis gives validation to ascertain concepts as it devalues the inefficiency to bring satisfaction in care within nursing. The analysis refines the ambiguous theoretical concepts and presents to the nurse the most prevalent concept applicable and effective. The rigorous process of refining the concept through analysis brings to the co-existence and elimination of the less effective concepts and theories in nursing care.
The Steps of Process and the Results for Each Step
The rigorous analysis process cannot be achieved by working in an absurd manner, it requires organization and working in a more organized way and cognitively to achieve the appropriate results. There are eight steps used in this analysis. Each step has its results, and they determine the next step and what it is demanded in the next step.
The first step is a selection of the concept to be analyzed. If one has been having doubts on a certain concept, then he or she will have to make a choice of the concept. In most of the incidences, one has to make a decision on the disturbing concepts which the nursing community might have or they are challenged in identifying them CITATION JWa11 \l 1033 (Watson, 2011). The level of knowledge also determines the selection of the knowledge. The second step is delimitation of the main purpose ...
