This controlled comparative study was aimed at comparing pain experienced by patients in supportive periodontal therapy between magnetostrictive scaler and piezoelectric scaler. The inclusion criteria in sample selection were patients with good general health who had no abnormality in their medical history or oral exam. The patients who were in supportive periodontal phase treatment were best qualified for the examination. The exclusion criteria included patients with recurrent dental pathology that could affect the assessment. Patients with a current history of serious severe physical or medical disorders that could not complete the study were also excluded.
