Effectiveness and Application of Robots in Space Exploration

Term Paper Instructions:

Please follow the instruction in the pdf and note, Topic number 2 (Robots in space ) is the one I have chosen please, and thank you.

General

The Term Paper is a 2000 words essay on one of the following topics:

1. A topic of your choice subject to the approval of your professor. I strongly encourage you to choose this option. If you do so, you must send me a one-paragraph description of your topic and also explain what material you will be using. You could start researching the topic only if you get my approval in writing. I will not accept “own choice” papers that have not been pre-approved by me.

2. Robots in Space. Robots are increasingly visible around us. They do not necessarily have to look anything like human beings. For example, the experimental driverless cars are, in fact, driven by a kind of a robot. There are also robots used by the military and the automotive and other industries. But what about Space? How are robots used in space? Could robots completely replace people in Space exploration? The paper should try to address these and many other interesting questions related to Space exploration through robots.

3. The present and future of the self-driving car. Several big companies are trying to build the first reliable self-driving car. In pursuing this goal, they are adopting, with variable degrees of success, different strategies. At the same time, many people are very critical of those initiatives because of their possible social impacts. Does the selfdriving car have a future?

4. Big Brother and Privacy: a Critical Analysis of Edward Snowden’s and Julian Assange’s Revelations. In the last few years, revelations of how state agencies in various countries spy on the citizens of those and other countries have strengthen existing fears of gross infringements of privacy rights by those who are expected to defend them. Are those fears justified? Do you approve of Snowden and Assange’s actions? Have we gained anything from those actions?

5. Health Information on the Web. Research, report and assess how the new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) affect medical care. You might wish to examine the many Web-based health information sites and their implications in terms of benefits to the patients, reliability of the information, privacy protection, techniques that are available to rate or accredit sites, doctor-patient relations, etc.

6. MOOCs: are they good for education? Give some history and background about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). How do they work? What are their aims? Who enrolls in the courses? Then, evaluate them. What is the completion rate? What benefits and problems have occurred? Have they fulfilled their promise? If not, is it likely just a matter of time until they do so, or are there inherent weaknesses in the very idea of MOOCs?

7. The Free Software and Open Software movements. What are these two movements and how did they originate? What is the difference between them? How successful have they been so far? Will these movements radically change the way software is created and distributed? Will they have any far-reaching social consequences? Please note: irrespective of your choice, your papers should be based only on library and internet sources.

8. Information Technology and the COVID crisis. Several implementations of various information technologies have been recently advanced in order to ease the COVID crisis. Review and assess these implementations and other IT related ideas.

The Application of Robots in Space Exploration
In the middle-1900s, technology has been advancing faster, and it has become part and parcel of modern people. Initially, technology was perceived as needed for rich people, and it didn't have a beneficial purpose. Recently, different types of technology such as telephone, internet, robots, technology, and self-driving cars have made all people develop the technology. Human beings had used sophisticated machines to complete many tasks and a higher efficiency level than when humans didn't have the technology witnessed today. Interestingly, a big part of the technological accomplishments witnessed in technology has come from robots, the most recent technology.[Bogue, R. (2012). Robots for space exploration. Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 39(4), 323-328. https://doi.org/10.1108/01439911211227872]
On the other hand, Robots are the enormous advancing technological gadgets globally. Technicians can program a robot to explore space and even entertain people. Robots are great machines, and they have numerous advantages. On the other hand, they are more accurate when programmed correctly. They are more precise than human beings. Furthermore, robots have done a tremendous job in the exploration of space. They have managed to predict hurricanes, Earthquakes, and famine, among others. Many robots are used to study other planets to determine if they are suitable for humans, closely related to the above analysis. The paper discusses relevant information on the application of robots and determining whether they are replacing individuals in space exploration.
History of Space Exploration
The end of World War II led to the development of the Cold War. World War II caused a lot of fatalities. For example, many people died, a lot of properties were destroyed. The war stopped, many nations became very watchful of their enemies. Some feared that another could occur since the war left some nations bitter and ready to avenge. Such issues led to competition in manufacturing large tankers and sophisticated weapons. The capitalists and communists became the major competitors trying to outshine one another by using superior weapons. Consequently, they started investing in research projects about space and trying to be the first to reach the moon, Mars, and other planets.
In 1959, the Soviet Union became the first organization to launch Luna 2, and it successfully reached the moon. The discovery intensified the competition countries supporting the capitalist and communist. For example, the USA was very bitter about underestimating the Soviet Union. Therefore, the USA knew that they had to do something. For example, President Dwight signed a contract with NASA "National Aeronautics and Space Exploration" to start space explorations activities. The USA started by designing Explorer I, and it became successful. Initially, both Soviet Union and the USA used chimpanzees and aircraft to ensure all calculations were correct.
Consequently, President John Kennedy announced that human beings would begin landing on the moon. Neil Armstrong became the first man to land on the moon. The idea instigated people to become intrig...
