Du Bois was born at Great Barrington, in Massachusetts in 1868 and mostly studied there, later on, he wrote books of African consciousness and became a scholar as one of the Harvard's first Black Ph.D. graduate, he was also an organizer and fought for justice (Vaccaro, 2015). Dubois was a Pan- African supporter who mostly worked on behalf of colonized and emerging African nations, he wrote and supported the struggle for equality for African Americans and people of color. Even in the late 19th century and early 20th century there were contrasting approaches to deal with racial prejudice, where some supported being accommodative to ensure there was gradual end to discrimination. Dubois did not support this as he believed that the struggle for equality should be direct, regardless of whether this antagonized the system and governing leaders.
