Music has been present for ages. It can come in different shapes—bent, twisted, circular or linear. Music depends on the listener. A music to your ears may be noise to mine and vice versa. It can also be produced in different ways using voice, instruments, and even noise.
Today, we will be talking about a particular instrument, the piano and how it produces sound. The piano produces sound when the hammer hits the strings. This mechanism is called the action, which is an invention of Sir Sébastien Érard of France. This method permits a pianist to rapidly repeat the note without releasing the key. This mechanism allows to arrange for the next keystroke without the hammer going back to its resting position CITATION Yamnd \l 1033 (Yamaha, n.d.).
There are different parts of the piano—string, hammer, damper, soundboard, pedals, and frame. Each of these contributes to the sound production.
The pitch, whether high or low, depends on the number, vibration, and frequency of the string. The strings are of the same thickness but with different length and tension. The length and diameter of the strings increase from the treble, which is the highest pitch, found at the right-most side, to the bass, which is the lowest pitch, found at the left-most side. A high-pitched sound can be produced by a string that is shorter, lighter, tauter, and with faster vibration while a low-pitched sound is produced by a string that is longer, thicker in diameter, less taut, and with slower vibration CITATION ...
