Introduction
Over the years, most people have sought to understand the different histories and how they shaped our lives. Even though there are many histories that people are looking at, one that has attracted a lot of attention is the imperial Chinese concubines. The main reason is their existence played a huge role in shaping different areas such as daily life, political influence, social status, and cultural status. It is, therefore, critical to understand this issue and the critical factors that shaped it.
Background and Significance of the Topic
To successfully understand the transformation that occurred, it would be critical to have background information. In the early period, all the women living in a forbidden city were usually secluded in the imperial quarters deep in the palace. The following females were usually restricted from accessing the inner court and banned from venturing into the northern section. Most of these women located in the Forbidden City have originally been employed as servants and maids, even though some were selected to be concubines. Their primary role was to bear children for the emperor as long as he was pleased. The women who birthed male offspring were usually favored. For instance, they could be prompted to the imperial consorts and the empress maintaining the top position in the pecking order. Understanding this topic would help to understand how human rights were violated by the people who were supposed to care for them. For instance, the leaders would use them for their sexual pleasure, which would cause them to have children who were rendered illegitimate.
Research Objectives and Questions
For this research, there are various objectives that it is looking forward to achieving. One of the research objectives will be to determine the criteria employed to choose the women who will serve as concubines. The next objective will be to find out how the trend of imperial Chinese concubines shaped daily life and culture. The other objective would be to find how the emperors and concubines relate. It would also be critical to check the criteria the concubines used to get favor from the emperors. Moreover, finding how concubines influenced literature and pop culture would be critical. The other objective is to find out how society perceives them.
To understand these trends, asking a series of questions would be critical. One of the questions will be what people think prompted this trend. The next question will be how people perceive the whole issue. The next question will be how the individuals believe this move influenced the literature and pop culture. The next question will be the transformation that has taken place over the years.
Methodology and Approach
I will employ a mixed-method research approach to conduct the data successfully. For example, in collecting data, I will use observations to collect secondary data from past sources.
