Literature often explores the fraught relationships of siblings. These relationships have the great literary potential for many reasons: they involve a shared history, rivalries, hurts, loyalty, and love. Compare and contrast sibling relationships in at least THREE works from class.
First, in "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, written in the 19th century, you get to realize that it highlights marriage. The contrast points as set forward by Kate Chopin are several, starting with the human relationships and the assumptions that other human beings may have. However, at the same time, specific comparisons come out of these contrasts because there are different definitions to human relationships, considering the friendships that individuals have, marriages, and the enemies created along the way. For example, the story of a forced marriage indicates how Louise got into a relationship where she does not love her husband, Brently. As presented by the author, Louise lived a loving life with her husband; however, it does not reflect the truth of the matter since after his death, and everything changed to joy. "She did not stop to ask if it were or were not a monstrous joy that held her." (P. 180). It was a moment that gave her freedom and expressed it in a careless manner considering the happiness she enjoyed the moment because it was over.
While still reflecting on Kate Chopin’s "The Story of an Hour," there is a revelation that Louise got married to Brently but got hurt throughout the time they were together. Marriage is a union that should bring joy to a couple; however, it was not about being true to oneself in the name of love.
