According to Upton Sinclair, the jungle is a story of a united state migrant known as Lithuanian, who comes to the US to live long for staying in America. His family lives in Chicago, a small town known as Packingtown. Therefore, the title symbolizes this small town's nature; his family, who hopes for a better opportunity, is thrown into a messy world that makes them struggle hard to survive. After renting a house that becomes barely livable, they are forced to work for them to be sustained. As the winter approaches, the working condition becomes harsher.
