Euthanasia
Euthanasia entails ending the life of a person who is suffering to relieve pain. The decision is made by the doctor when a severely sick individual, whose chances of surviving are minimal, makes a request. In particular, the physician licensed to perform euthanasia must consider various things before prescribing lethal medications to facilitate death. For example, the health specialist must carry out various medical tests to ascertain that the sick person is in a lot of pain and that his or her health condition cannot be treated. Moreover, family members should be informed about the decision made by the sick person to end his or her life to relieve pain. Some terminally sick individuals prefer euthanasia to ease their financial burdens. For the last two decades, the cost of taking care of patients in their last stages of life has increased due to the introduction of new drugs and new imaging technologies. On that note, since a terminally ill person must stay in the hospital or a nursing home where he or she can get adequate care, it means that the individual is likely to spend more money. In most cases, about 25% of the money spent in healthcare goes to offering care for patients during their end of lives (Taqi 228). The last few months of a terminally sick person requires more attention from healthcare professionals, which is the reason why the medical bill might shoot tremendously. For this reason, if the patient chooses euthanasia...
