Introduction:
Gaming requires selection of a computer that will perform effectively by being fast and able to handle the gaming apps. In this project, the student assumes that they working a paid internship with ThisisIT, LLC, an IT business. Yesima Tecci, CEO of ThisisIT has asked the student to recommend a computer for a business client, Harry Robust, who intends to purchase 50 computers for his brand new gaming lounge called Game Stop. This young company specializes in offering online gaming for an hourly rate that their top of the line elite gaming facility. Harry hopes the lounge will attract gamers who are looking for a community atmosphere and that they will also partake in the food and beverages also offered at the lounge. As such he is concerned about how best to protect the computers you recommend for purchase. This is kept in mind while seeking viable options. Secondly he would like the student to show him their networking skills so he can trust that that the student is capable of networking the machines they recommend. According to the requirements and specifications, IdeaCentre T540 Gaming Desktop Lenovo and New XPS Tower Dell were selected, with their prices rising significantly when additional costs were added to the unit price so as to ‘customize’ the systems.
Explanation of Specifications:
Operating System
Every computer or desktop has an Operating System (OS), which is system software which manages the computer software, hardware, and provides common services as required by computer programs. Operating Systems include Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 Home, and Windows 10 Pro. In this case, Windows 10 Pro is the most appropriate since gaming involves tasks that require high efficiency. Windows 10 Pro is also a time-sharing OS, and thus schedules tasks for effective use of the system. This will prevent such cases as hanging of the system during gaming.
Productivity Software
Productivity software is also known as office productivity software, and it is application software used for production of such information as presentations, documents, databases, worksheets, graphs, charts, electronic music, digital paintings, and digital video. The two systems chosen in this case use Microsoft 365 and Google Suite to help in production of information when necessary.
Security Software
It is also important to have software for securing and protecting the network, computers, and monitors that will be used for the gaming purposes. Such software will help in managing access control, securing the system against different types of viruses, providing data protection, and preventing intrusions. Further, this will help in defending the system against system-level security risks. The first system chosen in this case has Norton antivirus 360 while the second has McAfee® Antivirus Plus. The software will help in protecting the system against viruses and intrusions.
