Women’s rights to control their bodies have significantly evolved in Canada for the last few centuries. Traditionally, females were confined at home, and their primary responsibilities were to take care of their husbands and children, give birth, and undertake household chores. However, in 1923, an advocacy group was established in Vancouver, which pushed birth control to be made accessible and available for all women who needed it. Birth control gave females the freedom to plan their families by choosing when they wanted to have children or not based on their careers. In addition, males were not left behind since they were involved in family planning too.
Birth control education has significantly helped young people to pursue their career dreams by preventing early pregnancies. In particular, education, either informal or formal, is crucial for the youth so that they can acquire proper knowledge and skills to prepare for their future. Birth control has been recognized as the most significant method to prevent unintended pregnancies. However, it does not help individuals to avoid sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
