Born in Alberta in 1972, Kurelek grew to be one of the most significant artists in Canadian history. The love and attention that Kurelek attracted from his audience are attributed to a series of artworks, developed as early as in the 1960s. Kurelek’s lifetime works include several books, paintings and drawings developed throughout Europe, specifically Canada, England and the United States. Kurelek is not merely remembered for his artistic works, but the unique aspects that he portrayed in his art, most of which ground from his life experiences. Kurelek earned mastery in art, literature, and psychology among several other subjects. Religion is one of the popular subject and lesson that Kurelek communicated in his works. Kurelek appreciated religion as the framework of society. Kurelek is also appreciated for emerging victorious after a long and painful battle with his childhood and youth life. On completion of his degree in Arts, Kurelek developed serious mental problems. The battle against mental challenges did not just leave Kurelek with a bruise, but instead with newly acquired strengths. Through painting, Kurelek developed a purpose in life, strengthened with close interactions with religion in the course of receiving mental health therapy. Through hard work and self-discipline, Kurelek managed to communicate his life experiences through artworks like Don Valley on a Grey Day dated the year 1972. Visuals are essential aspects of art.
