Introduction
The Covid 19 pandemic has caused havoc in all parts of the world. Since its discovery, the world has not been the same again. The regular undertakings from family interactions, works, and social involvements were reduced to governmental control. Almost every part of the world was locked down, and the directives came from the top most nation's officials. As citizens, the way forward was determined by the decisions and perspective of the government. In the totalitarianism article, the article's author describes the atrocities from totalitarianism experienced in Britain significantly catapulted by Britain’s topmost official, the Prime Minister (The Daily Telegraph, 2021).
The fight against Covid has proved to be a challenge in Britain, but at least the predictions and the current happenings can bring an ounce of happiness from the perspective that it will be defeated. Yes, the schools are back, yes, but since the government turned them into field hospitals, not all the students can attend standard classes (The Daily Telegraph, 2021). Not that the nation has no funds to boost the healthcare system by developing temporary facilities to care for Covid victims.
Testing and insurance of vaccines are undergoing, the approach is to fight the pandemic, but the government is turning the country into a healthcare state instead of a welfare state (The Daily Telegraph, 2021). Lockdown restrictions were suitable, and people had to obey the rule of the state by staying indoors. Now that the restrictions have been lifted and citizens can get involved in some activities while children go back to school, vaccination policy has shifted to public places. Testing is done thrice in the first week in schools and twice at home; the approach does not change the fact that people are still under tight restrictions.
The government instills fear in people; the more it reveals how effective using masks is to prevent more spreading and contracting of the virus, the more fear is induced (The Daily Telegraph, 2021). People are afraid to go to the streets and have typical chats and coffee hours since everyone is scared of transmitting the virus to others, and at the same time, no one wishes to be the victim. People are tired of the restrictions that do not seem to end. During the first stages of emergence, the government was reluctant to impose restrictions and a lockdown since it was concerned about citizens' reactions (The Daily Telegraph, 2021). It was a wrong approach, and the same is soon to be observed in how it is reluctant to lift Covid restrictions.
Countries that have had cases of communism and fascism started with minor mistakes that pissed of the citizens (The Daily Telegraph, 2021). The same can be the course in Britain due to the government's delay in whether to or not to lift Covid restrictions.
