Explanation of the Sources Concerning the Issue of Racism

Institution Research Project The research project will focus on the depth of racism and how it was presented in the 1920s. Further, the project will also focus on how attitudes towards race and language have changed from the 20^th century. The information that will be presented in the paper will be derived from several scholarly sources, mainly the primary ones. The first source that I will use in the research project is “Racism and the Media: A Textual Analysis.” This was a research study that was done on the same subject and focuses on the role the media has played in the fight against racism and promotion of the vice. Kulaszewicz (2015) indicates that the media has a significant influence on the values and ideas that the society treasures. In this regard, the research focuses on how the media influenced racism in the 20^th century. The second source that I will use in the research project is “In New Orleans, Racism's History Is Harder than Stone." The article was written by Michael Tisserand and focuses on the history of racism and how it has affected the world in the past years. The article provides compelling first account narratives of people who have been victims of racism and how they perceive it. This helps show the changes in attitudes towards race over the years. The third source that I will use in the research project is titled “The Harlem Renaissance: What Was It, and Why Does It Matter?" The work is an exciting and informative historical piece which seeks to discuss the African-American resistance. It will be useful in providing firsthand accounts of racism and how the attitudes towards the vice have changed over the years. The fourth source will be “Know your history: Understanding racism in the US” written by A'Lelia Bundles. This is an informative historical article, which discusses the history of racism and how attitudes towards it have changed over time in the USA. The article will be useful in helping determine what measures have been taken with the aim of reducing the impact of racism and how that has affected the attitudes people have towards it. The fifth source will be D.W Griffin’s film The Birth of a Nation. The film covers the issues of the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan, which happens to be one of the most influential racist groups to have existed in the USA. The film was more of a propaganda film; hence, its role in promoting racism will be useful in determining how the media affects the audiences' attitudes towards the vice. The sixth source will be “Racism on the rise in Britain,” which has been written by Matthew Taylor and Hugh Muir. The article discusses among other things, the issue of racism and how it has risen in Britain over the years. The article provides detailed first account experiences of people who have been victims of racism and their thoughts as to why despite the attempts to fight the vice, it continues to affect the world.
