An experiment was done on whether long-term exposure to terrorism threats can increase individual resting heart rates and elevate the chances of experiencing loss of life. The researchers claim that a change in heart rate is easy to observe; hence the results will aid asymptomatic individuals to learn about prevention measures that curb the increase in cardiovascular diseases leading to death. The researchers performed the first statistics-based study, which shows that consistent exposure to the threat of terror induces fear and may lead to an adverse health condition and increase the risk of death. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem researchers analyzed the elements influencing basal heart rates to comprehend the health risks that ultimately lead to fear of terror. They examined how these changes fluctuate over time during checkups of healthy subjects. Subjects were chosen from Israel because of its exposure to repeated terrors attacks and multiple wars for over 60 years.
