Laws are the governing rules and regulations that guide people in a given country. Without laws, people can never live in peace and order. They are enforced by the government through its agencies such as the police. There are laws governing people, things, activities, and everything that happens in a country. These laws are documented in a book called the constitution which is always available to every citizen. There are laws that impact the operations of business ventures within the state (Beatty et al.2018). Examples include; Employment law, Antitrust law, Environmental law, and Consumer law. This paper will explain a research by a group of four students, each student researching and analyzing one of the mentioned laws and how these laws impact iPhone Company Limited.
The first member researched on the Employment Law. According to the American constitution, the employment law is all about the employee/employer relationship at work (Beatty et al.2018). It is important for employers to fully comply with rules and regulations stipulated by the law failure to which they suffer serious employment tribunal trials. The law covers the employment contracts and conditions, treatment of employees, employee pay and working hours, time off work, sickness absence, takeovers, and business transfers. iPhone Company Limited is a computer manufacturing company in America. The company uses human expertise to be able to make computer software and peripherals. Therefore they are affected by employment law in many ways.
The company's human resource manager and other members of the human resource team are committed to ensuring that the employment law is adhered to strictly. They are focused to build enterprise-wide employee engagement, develop and support the talents of employees. The HR team also obeys the employment law by ensuring that laws regarding discipline, harassment, equal pays, maternity, and parental rights, discrimination of any form either by race, gender, religion and general terms and conditions of employment. This is to ensure a good employee/employer relationship. Often, this law is broken by top managers who misuse their subordinates by poor pay, long working hours, sexual harassment among many others. The HR team of Apple Inc. is against all of these bad practices (Ferrera et al.2018)
The recommendation I would have on Apple Company on this law is that they should ensure it is effectively adhered to by the leaders. Platforms should be created in the HR department for employees to report any mistreatment they get from their leaders or even fellow employees. The HR department should punish anybody found guilty and forward them to the court of law regardless of their position at work. Employees should be treated well for them to give their very best to the organization. The recruitment of employees by the HR team should be free and fair and everybody should be given equal job opportunities.
The other member of the group analyzed the Antitrust Law. Antitrust laws are laws governing competition among business ventures. The law ensures healthy competition to bring about growth.
