Kenyan Research Project
This study project is in Kenya, an African country located at the coastline of the Indian Ocean with swamps of Eastern mangroves. The name of the country evolved from East African Protectorate in 1895 before colonization to Kenya Colony in 1920 after colonization and finally Republic of Kenya after gaining of independence (History of Kenya, 2019). The capital city of the Kenyan republic was Mombasa which changed after the after independence to Nairobi in 1963. Kenya was invaded by Britain in 1895 (History of Kenya, 2019). The British imposed actual colonization in the country in 1920, after the construction of the Kenya Uganda railway that covers a length of 900km from Mombasa to Lake Victoria (History of Kenya, 2019). The rail was constructed by the colony to enhance modern means of transport. The colonial system in Kenya entailed the engagement of indirect rule by chiefs and headmen with the responsibility of maintaining law and order (History of Kenya, 2019). “The other administrative structures created by the British were those of Local Government (Local Native Councils), African Tribunal Courts and the Kenya Police.”

The Kenyans were oppressed to the extent of owning small pieces of land that were not productive. Consequently, they could not inherit any property from their parents or pass any ownership to the children. Kenyans were also forced to deviate from their cultural beliefs and spiritual practices during the colonization period (History of Kenya, 2019). However, the colonization impacted an era of continuous economic development as the British implemented various ways including the construction of the roads to facilitate their exploitation of resources from the country.
