Evidence-Based Practice Proposal: Section G: Evaluation of Process
In 500‐750 words (not including the title page and reference page), develop an evaluation plan to be included in your final evidence‐based practice project. Provide the following criteria in the evaluation, making sure it is comprehensive and concise:
Describe the rationale for the methods used in collecting the outcome data.
Describe the ways in which the outcome measures evaluate the extent to which the project objectives are achieved.
Describe how the outcomes will be measured and evaluated based on the evidence. Address validity, reliability, and applicability.
Describe strategies to take if outcomes do not provide positive results.
Describe implications for practice and future research.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.
Upon receiving feedback from the instructor, refine "Section G: Evaluation" for your final submission. This will be a continuous process throughout the course for each section.

Section G: Evaluation of Process
The evaluation of this evidence-based initiative involves seeing whether the results are being achieved. This process will identify the strength of the project and areas needing improvement and will provide support for growth. Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2011), declared that the evaluation of outcomes are essential in effecting the change on clinical decisions and patient’s outcomes. The methods in collecting the data are by the use of a prospective longitudinal study to observe the effectiveness of the World Health Organization (WHO) checklist and comparing the results to a retrospective study of pre-intervention data via the record-keeping system of the hospital. A prospective longitudinal study employs continuous observations to follow a sample or all individuals in a specific population with similar exposures over a period of time (Caruana, Roman, Hernandez-Sanchez, and Solli, 2015). The world health organization developed the checklist to decrease the rates of wrong site surgery. Although, we are comparing the results of prechecklist intervention and postchecklist intervention, the project would use the data before the WHO developed the surgical safety checklist. This will be done using a retrospective approach. Using a restrospective study, the data collection will be gathered from previous records, in obtaining results from when the WHO checklist was not yet implemented sso that the veracity of the data is not mixed with expected outcomes of wrong-site surgery occurrence (Caruana, Roman, Hernandez-Sanchez, and Solli, 2015). This will offer valuable insight into reasons for the implementation being more or less effective in achieving its goal.
Outcome Measures
Outcome measures are useful in the support of care decisions and shaping new policies or practice guidelines (Hockenberry, Brown & Melnyk, 2011). The expected outcome of implementing the use of a checklist is to decrease the incidence of wrong site surgery and ultimately prevent other postoperative complications. The resulting outcome from the methods used will validate ...
