Quality and Safety Education for Nurses
Nearly 430,000 patients die annually due to avoidable clinical errors. However, patient safety initiatives and organizations are acting in unison to improve patient safety and outcomes (Sherwood & Barnsteiner, 2017). The initiatives focus on service improvement in health settings such as limiting harm, avoiding errors, and decreasing the likeliness of errors by developing a safety compliance plan, and practicing patient-centered care. In my nursing practicum setting, the management, support staff, and the nurses are working toward a sustainable goal of increasing patient services to minimize causalities (Alexander, Armstrong & Barton, 2018). The management has built a rapid response system that enhances patient safety and health workers' performance. The health practitioners, legislators, and health administration have also adopted patient-centered care and implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The development of QSEN competencies will help in quality improvement. For instance, data can be used to monitor the outcome of a particular care process (Dolanksy et al., 2017).
