Discussion of how evidence-based practice was used in creating the intervention plan.
Plan for evaluating the proposed nursing intervention.
Identification of potential barriers to plan implementation, and a discussion of how these could be overcome.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is fundamental in healthcare because they improve the quality of healthcare outcomes. PPE guarantee that the transmission of pathogens from patients to doctors or is avoided. Such pathogens include but are not limited to bodily secretions, excretions, and infectious airborne particles often found in healthcare providers’ bodies, hands, and clothing (Brown et al., 2019). Brown and her colleagues (2019) highlight that healthcare practitioners are the primary source of pathogens and are the susceptible hosts of nosocomial infections. In using PPE, stakeholders are confident that the spread of disease-causing organisms will be mitigated.
Clinical Problem Statement
The current situation worldwide raises the essence of PPE. A virus that emerged in the Wuhan province in the People’s Republic of China has brought the world to a standstill with more countries initiating lockdown and social distancing measures to curb the spread of the virus. Still, the virus has caused thousands of casualties with more passing away daily. The virus is transmitted to another person via respiratory droplets and direct contacts meaning that the use of PPE would come in handy particularly, for the frontline workers who are at risk of acquiring the virus while on duty (Wong et al., 2020; Liu et al., 2020). Despite the widespread acknowledgment of PPE as effective in preventing further spread of the virus, people contracting and dying are recurrent. To this end lies the need to articulate the best PICOT question that will guide the direction of this change. The PICOT question is: Among hospital staff (P), how does ineffective use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (I), compared to their proper use (C) increase chances of COVID-19 infections in the hospital setting when interacting with coronavirus-infected patients (T)?
Purpose of the Change Proposal
Ineffective use of PPE in healthcare institutions contributes to its share of patients that contract nosocomial infections. Retrospectively, effective application of this strategy guarantees minimal health-acquired infections (HCAIs) particularly COVID-19 that is causing significant unrest among the healthcare community. In the absence of such transmissions, human resource personnel attending to patients remains steady with minimal interruptions to the ordinary manner of operations around the organization. Also, the healthcare system curbs against loss of financial resources that would be used to improve other facets of the institution (Balkhyour et al., 2019). Beyond the case for COVID-19, some re-emergent diseases and pandemics are proving to be a menace for healthcare systems. Thus, appropriate preparations surrounding the logistics for PPE should be formulated so that effective patient care is guaranteed at any moment (Loibner et al., 2019).
