Nurse educators have a sophisticated role in healthcare delivery. They support the development of skills and discourage misleading perspectives by exemplifying on the need for contrary approaches to work. Their role improves teamwork and highlights on unidentified resources. Considering the practicum experience, the nurse educator was instrumental in establishing effective communication. This paper reflects on how nurse educator manages relationships and explores the concepts explored to prevent or manage conflict while working with others.
The educator provided information about communication and facilitated the development of supportive relationships (Froneman, Du Plessis & Koen, 2016). In emphasis, the practicum experience revealed the importance of compromise. The nurse educated the team members about compromise. Specifically, the educator implied that nurses should always anticipate the possibility of miscommunication or dislikeable communication from peers. The emphasis was that nurses should desist from emotional responses and consider compromise. The ultimate goal of nursing is to serve patients; therefore, every other event should be treated as a secondary factor. The educator raised awareness about the impact of self-expression; team members were challenged to express their feelings about issues. Sensitive communication was emphasized; it was accentuated that calm and polite expression is crucial. In one incident, the nurse educator talked about the impact anger management skills on team success. The underlined message was that lack of anger management skills plainly emphasizes the problem rather than finding a solution.
