Understanding the relationship between various Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) during interview sessions is essential for every healthcare professional. It allows him to understand better the factors that should be considered during interview sessions aside from the physical determinants of health. Accordingly, this article would focus on the various SDOH that were used during this interview session. The subsequent sections would also analyze how these social determinants could be used to improve the intervention strategies in line with the different health models that could be used for respondents. All in all, the author believes that the use of strategic communication is essential to improve the provision of care for this patient.
Social Determinants of Health
One of the main SDOH in this study was the difficulty accessing quality leisure time activities for the respondents. During the interview, it was shown that the respondents were relatively healthy individuals who have sufficient resources for their needs and wants. However, due to their hectic schedule, the only leisure activities the respondent could do were "listening to music and browsing social media sites," making it less effective in dealing with stress or improving physical health. Additionally, it was shown that only the father exercises among the family, whereas the others exercise rarely.
Additionally, it was shown that the family does not have any problems related to access to personal and healthcare-related needs. They have enough resources to fulfill their wants,' although their work's nature and schedule make it difficult for them to ensure proper access to necessary healthcare. For example, the survey has noted that it has been a while since the whole family could go for a checkup. Even the father has already been experiencing teeth problems since he could not consult with a dentist for quite some time.
Finally, the researcher also found out that there have been some problems with the family relationship, even though it is minor and resolves in a short period. Notably, the father has shown that the father utilizes 'shouting' and 'avoidance' strategies to discipline their children, without any mention about any reconciliatory mechanisms they employ after being in a fight.
Analysis and Screening Methodologies
Based on the discussion above, it could be seen that despite the financial capability of the family and their easy access to healthcare providers, one of the leading social determinants is related to difficulty in accessing quality leisure activities, hectic work schedule, and lack of reconciliatory mechanisms among and between the family members.
In line with the SDOHs, the author believes that some of the age-appropriate screening mechanisms that each family member should use include the Self-sufficiency Outcomes Matrix (OneCare Vermont) for the adults WE CARE survey instrument (Boston Medical Center). On the one hand, the Self-sufficiency Outcomes Matrix developed by OneCare Vermont could be used for adults (father and mother) since it focuses on deter...
