Examining Nursing Specialties
The decision to pursue Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialty was somewhat challenging, but I am confident I made the right choice. Another specialty I was considering is Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Primary Care because, to a great extent, I fancy working with children and adolescents. However, I chose PMHNP because I have a greater desire to be part of the solution to the mental health issue that’s quite significant in the U.S. and the world today. In essence, one of the factors that influenced my decision is the desire to play a role in addressing a pertinent issue affecting society today.
