Evidence Based Practice Proposal of Antimicrobial Resistance

Research Paper Instructions:

I am a Director of Nursing at a Long Term Care Skilled Nursing Facility, my concern is fall prevention and the two main organizations within my field are the Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS), or the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
The purpose of this assignment is to identify a problem, issue, or concern in the professional health care setting that is amenable to an evidence-based intervention. Write a 500-750 word paper on your proposed problem for your evidence-based practice project proposal. Complete the following:
Identify a problem, issue or concern in a professional health care setting that you would like to address for your evidence-based practice project. Research current literature for evidence-based solutions to ensure there is sufficient evidence to support your proposed topic. Note: As you research, you may find there is very little research to support your topic and you will need to choose a new topic. Remember, in order for this to be an evidence-based project proposal, you must have enough evidence to introduce this as a practice change. If you find that you do not have enough supporting evidence to change a practice, then further research would need to be conducted.
Once you have determined there is sufficient research for your chosen topic, develop an initial reference list of five sources to demonstrate there is support for your evidence-based practice project. Follow the "Steps to an Efficient Search to Answer a Clinical Question" box in Chapter 3 of the textbook. Refer to the "Search Method Example" as the format in which to compile this data. The majority of references on your list should be research articles. However, national sources such as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS), or the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and others may be used when you are gathering statistics to provide the rationale for the problem.
Provide a summary of the problem, include relevant background information, the current impact of the problem or issue in health care, and why it deserves attention. Provide rationale and support using professional literature sources.
Describe the practice setting where the identified issue or problem is occurring. Explain the current impact to the practice setting and the potential consequence if the problem or issue were to continue.
Identify the stakeholders who will be involved in this project. What organizations are concerned about, may benefit from, or are affected by this proposal? List the interested parties, patients, students, agencies, Joint Commission, etc.
State the purpose of the project and project objectives in specific, realistic, and measurable terms. The objectives should address what is to be gained. This will focus your PICOT statement as you develop and refine it over the next few weeks. Remember, measurements need to be taken before and after the evidence-based practice is introduced to identify the expected changes.
Summarize your proposed problem statement. A problem statement is a concise explanation of the problem or issue to be addressed and goals to be reached.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Evidence-Based Practice Proposal
A Summary Of The Problem, Including Relevant Background Information
Antimicrobial resistance is a global challenge. The misuse and the overuse of drugs are the causes of antimicrobial resistance whereby the pathogens resist drugs. Antimicrobial resistance is expensive to an economy, given the funds invested in the health sector in purchasing the drugs subject to antimicrobial resistance (Roope et al., 2019). Similarly, the deaths, disabilities, and illness contribute to loss in an economy in many dimensions. For instance, the deaths and sick cases increase the dependence rates besides causing a reduction in productive labor to an economy. The fact that the pathogens are resistant even to modern medicine is alarming. The spread of antimicrobial resistance worldwide exacerbates the issue, given that the world population is also bulging. This implies that millions of people will die from pathogen infections due to antimicrobial resistance. For this reason, there is a need for the devising of effective Antimicrobial resistance. However, gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria are dealing with antimicrobial chemotherapy (Kwong et al., 2018). Next-generation sequencing is one of the ways through which antimicrobial challenges could be resolved.
The fast spread of the multi and pan-bacteria is fueling the global spread of antimicrobial resistance. In this case, the superbugs responsible for resistance to various ailments, including pneumonia and urinary tract infections, have exacerbated the fight against antimicrobial resistance. Kwong et al. (2018) underscore antimicrobial resistance hence relevant to the PICOT question on the need to adopt next-generation sequencing to curb the global antimicrobial challenge. Forde et al. (2019) 's work is relevant to the PICOT question because it equally features the antimicrobial resistance of ESKAPE pathogens. Boolchandani, D'Souza & Dantas (2019) are relevant to the PICOT question because they underscore the remedy to antimicrobial resistance. By and large, the prolonged antimicrobial resistance could lead to massive death, especially for Klebsiella pneumonia who has grown resistant to carbapenems. By and large, India accounts for the highest rates of antimicrobial resistance when the strain of Klebsiella pneumonia resistance against Carbapenems is considered (Balkhaira et al., 2019). The issue requires attention because antibiotics are spreading worldwide; hence such antimicrobial resistance portends disaster to the world unless remedial measures are not adopted.
Location Where The Identified Issue Or Problem Is Occurring
The challenge of antimicrobial resistance is most pronounced in AND, India. This is in respect of Klebsiella pneumonia resistance to carbapenems, which is arguably an antibiotic of last resort in India and the world. The resistance to Carbapenems was found to be 57% in India compared to the European rate of below 5%. The consequence of failing to address the antimicrobial resistance to the Car...
