Normally known as the Flu, the Influenza Virus causes a respiratory tract infection. The earliest known outbreak of this pandemic was in 1580 where it commenced in Asia in summer and then went ahead to spread to Africa and finally Europe. Notably, the Disease took only six months to spread from Southern to Northern Europe and then reaching to the people in America. Even though the actual number of deaths by that time is unknown, it is said that there were 8,000 deaths in Rome alone. Close to a hundred-and-fifty years later, another disease took a toll. In 1729, the disease was reported in Europe, and within six months it was back again where it took three years to spread to the rest of the world. Notably, King Louis XV who said that the disease spread like a foolish child, was also infected.
In 1781 the disease rose again and this time hitting China, traversed to Russia and then settled in North America and Europe in the following year. During its peak, the disease affected thirty-thousand only in people every day in Saint Petersburg and two-thirds of Rome’s populace. In 1830 to 1833 the disease began again in China, and the was spread by ship through Indonesia, India and the Philippines and finally to Russia and then Europe which had an experience of two recurrences over the time of the pandemic. Evidently, the disease might have affected close to twenty-five percent of the global inhabitants. Additionally, the modern flu also known as the Russian flu occurred in 1889 in Russia and got to the United States in 70 days and attacked nearly 40% of the whole population in the world.
