Executive Summary
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the socioeconomic status of the global population. The closure of business and loss of jobs has exacerbated the state of homelessness in Oregon, Utah, and the country at large. The state of homelessness makes it difficult for people to re-enter the workforce because of many barriers, including potential employees who tend to be influenced by gaps in resumes. Former employees who end up in a state of homelessness face severe challenges in securing employment and, therefore, may remain in the homelessness state for a long time.
As a faith-based organization, OCC seeks to provide sustainable solutions through the Employment Returnship Program for Homeless Folks (OCC-ERPHF) to prepare homeless individuals for re-entry into the workforce. The program seeks to ensure that at least 10 homeless individuals have secured sustainable employment opportunities annually through extensive partnerships. The OCC provides the necessary resources and social backbone for the OCC independent charity organization as a church. The program's overall goal is to reduce the number of homeless individuals by providing support, training, and links to workforce re-entry opportunities. The OCC predicts spending $0.9 million on the program annually to realize its key objectives.
