The company I am interested to work for is Blue Mountain Resort. Located in the Blue Mountain Village, the company offers a variety of services to customers including lodging, skiing, golfing, as well as hosting of weddings and conferences. Working in this company will provide me with an opportunity to advance my career and understand better the hospitality business environment. Given the information provided on the company’s website and the numerous reviews provided by employees that have worked in the company, I am confident that the company has a positive corporate culture.
While the company does not explicitly state its vision, it has five key values that appeal to me. The values, which include performance, integrity, environment, fun, and collaboration, are listed in the company’s employee handbook (Blue Mountain, n.d.). These values resonate well with me as I would like to work in an environment characterized by them. The employee handbook also describes a code of ethics that includes aspects such as privacy, social media use, unlawful harassment, and information security (Blue Mountain, n.d.). I gathered that the company clearly describes what is expected of the employee and I found this attractive because I cherish clarity. With reporting procedures in place if case of harassment, one knows exactly what to do in every situation.
The employees of Blue Mountain Resort are treated respectfully and receive competitive benefits, and I would embrace an opportunity to join them. The company has detailed policies that cover important aspects such as workplace violence, sexual harassment, discrimination, and workplace safety (Blue Mountain, n.d.).
