Rosi Braidotti the author of “In Spite of the Times: The Postsecular Turn in Feminism” argues that religion is intrinsically patriarchal and does advocate for inequality between men and women on one hand and on the other how feminists perceive themselves as religious. It explores the issues in a concept of the so called “postsecular” turn. The argument is offered in two intersecting angles. First, the impact of extremism on monotheistic religions in a global context of social lives; second, feminism and the postsecular condition.
The argument presented in this case is how moral codes are built up through religion, how decisions are arrived at and by whom. That is to mean, an exploration of who decides that religion does advocate for inequality between man and woman. The main objective is to focus on the feminist interventions on the issue of religion and women focusing on Islamic feminism. Another reason is to consider the approach towards religious women through the Islamic feminism. Lastly, it is to explore a possible solution for the two issues.
Postsecular presents as a challenge to feminism through a number of assumptions: assumption that feminists struggle for the rights of women and the assumption that these feminist groups enlighten the women. There are two key ideas at work in feminism. First, secularism and separation of powers and second, establishing a form of anti-clericalism in their movements.
