Reflection Paper on Cold War
As a researcher and an individual interested in venturing into both the past and future occurrences, I have realized that the cold war has different implications on human life. For a good and better experience, each study about the cold war, especially the cold war in Asia, made me more interested in venturing into the topic. Knowledge about cold wars is not only transformative but also fascinating. Over a long period, the interest made me discover the amazing subject of the cold war in Asia with a touch of the United States of American history.
My first step was to identify the role the US government played in the cold war in Asia. Due to the vast focus on the cold war in Asian countries like North Korea and South Korea, I spend dozens of hours watching clips related to the storyline and digging up from various sources to uncover the truth. With respect to the specified competencies and gains, I think that I learned the most and acquired relevant information from the videos that I watched. The videos made me understand the several implications that cold wars have on countries and why North Korea embraces socialism while South Korea embraces capitalism. I came to understand that the cold war resulted from the differences in supremacy economic ties and the question of whether capitalism was better than communism. I think the idea of The United States of America trying to prevent the massive spread of communism in the area further accelerated the cold war in Korea (Nair, 2020).
