A lot of concern has been shown on whether being an insider or an outsiders affected the outcome of a study. This argument is based on acceptance. This acceptance can be based on whether you share a common opinion or belief in culture, politics, economics or even socially. “I was regarded as an ethnic and cultural member, but also as a social stranger”, the author notes (Võ, 21). Regardless of being of the same ethnicity, was still regarded as an outsider and needed to work hard for their trust. Acceptance, as stated, will generally determine the quality and outcome of a study as the people being studied can deliberately withhold, manipulate or deny you very crucial information.
