Name Tutor Course Date Development of Infants Language Development Although language development starts a few days before the birth, it is after a baby has been born when they begin to communicate. Once outside their mother's womb, they have the ability to hear the sounds and the voice of the mother. They can mimic the facial expressions of their mothers in the first twenty minutes of the delivery. For instance, they can smile when the parent smiles (Revill). Perhaps one of the most remarkable features of communication the babies possess some minutes after the birth is the ability to cry. They do this to communicate with their mothers that they are hungry and need to suckle. After the birth, a baby is attuned to the voice of humans and they prefer it other than sounds. During the early stages of development, infants may develop outstanding communication aspects such as eye-gave, attention seeking, expression of emotion, searching for the source of the sound, recognizing familiar voices and faces, the expression of displeasure and mimicking of the gesture among others (Revill). This plays a critical role in shaping the communication abilities of the babies even during the adulthood. The babies are born with the ability to hear sounds because they are born with fully developed inner parts of the ear such as the eardrum. They can recognize the voices of their mothers as well as other familiar sounds. However, until their brain processes the information to help them interpret the source of the sound, they hear everything with small echo, and that is why most people talk babies in a repetitive manner to make communication effective (Revill). The babies are used to loud voices right from the time they were in the womb of their mothers, which explains their ability to sleep deeply even in the noisiest places. Taste Preferences Babies have large requirements of energy for their brain to develop fully. The milk from the mother cannot...
