Development of Infants
Although language development starts a few days before the birth, it is after a baby has been born when they begin to communicate. Once outside their mother's womb, they have the ability to hear the sounds and the voice of the mother. They can mimic the facial expressions of their mothers in the first twenty minutes of the delivery. For instance, they can smile when the parent smiles (Revill).
