What concept is being addressed?
The article is addressing the concept of democracy and in broad analyses the politics of the U.S. From the article, the author believes that democracy has not yet been fully exercised in the society as the way it is supposed to. The article also stresses on the voting system whereby the process is not well conducted as some of the votes are bought by the politicians in exchange for drinks and money (pg.3). The concept of poverty has also been highlighted in the article. The author explains that some of the cities are lagging behind and the individuals living in the same area are languishing in abject poverty whereby they have no hope and therefore majority of them are just living for the moment and not knowing about tomorrow. In addition, they also lack belonging in any social organization or tradition (pg.4).
What is the perspective of the author?
The author thinks that there is lack of democracy in the social affairs. In this regard, the author stresses on the fact that people are losing their conscious and moral behavior and therefore as a result there is no equality in the society. Moreover, the author's perspective in terms of politics is that there is a bigger gap between the rich and the poor in the society.
