I am progressing at applying knowledge and skills gained in lectures to experiences in clinical practice. I have had many importunities to practice various therapeutic communication techniques learned from class. For example, the assessment process for substance use disorders typically helps me understand an individual's physical, mental, and substance use history. Hence, I can create a treatment plan for the patient that addresses their needs, promotes long-term recovery, and improves their general lifestyle.
