According to Robinson (2009) electronic waste is used to refer to the existing automated products that have turn out to be obsolete, unwanted or have principally extended to their expiration. As technology advances at a high rate, many electronic devices become obsolete within a short time of purchase and use. Most of the electronic thrown away contain harmful materials for example beryllium, lead and mercury and when they are not properly disposed of they pose as a threat environment. Although these elements are in traces when they are added up, they become a threat. E-waste recycling is failing because the process and the equipment used are costly and labor intensive. In other cases, while trying to recycle or get useful parts from the waste products, some toxic materials are created.
A network effect occurs when an organization service or product becomes more valuable because of increased usage. To describe this phenomenon, the use of PayPal, craigslist, or Twitter do make perfect examples of the network effect.
