The Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most important documents that presents justice as something that everyone, no matter the race is, should have. King Jr. reiterates in his letter how justice is not dependent on the courts but that it should come from the people’s hearts. The letter responds to “A call for Unity,” written by clergymen who argued that social inequality is a reality but that justice can only be granted by the courts and those in authority in terms of racial segregation.
