Psychology or Neuroscience News Article
Technological advancement has significantly contributed to positive changes in the study of psychology and neuroscience. Traditionally, experimenting with various aspects involving the mammalian brain was challenging. Besides, the best outcomes of any experiment are collected when the test subjects are observed in their natural environment. Without technology, it is difficult to study animals' behaviors or responses. "Researchers Develop Wireless Networks that Allow Brain Circuits to be Controlled Remotely Through the Internet" by Younghye Cho shows how neural implants can be used together with the Internet of Things (IoT) to regulate brain circuits. In that light, scientists can use this technology to study animals in different parts of the world through the Internet remotely. Cho's neuro news article depicts how technological advancement will influence the study of neuroscience in animals.
Researchers can control animals' brain circuits remotely, independently, and simultaneously via the Internet. The new technology will speed up neuroscience studies and brain research to uncover various brain functions that might help overcome neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. In particular, the wireless ecosystem uses IoT devices and implantable devices that facilitate high-throughput neuroscience studies and experiments. Scientists can use this technology to manipulate animals' brains from any part of the world. Since the new technology is highly adaptive and versatile, it can control many neural implants in real-time without physical human interactions. Jae-Woong Jeong, KAIST's professor of electrical engineering, added that wireless neural equipment and gadget has significant potential in the science of medicine (Cho, 2021). That means that scientists will significantly benefit from using this technology since they do not have to travel to different parts of the world to study animals' behaviors since they can do it while seated in a laboratory.
The most significant thing about this new neurotechnology is that it is affordable. Specifically, the wireless ecosystem requires a mini-computer that can be bought for at most $45 (Cho, 2021). The device should be able to connect to the web to send and receive information. Numerous technologies in neuroscience are challenging to implement due to their high cost of installation, operation, and maintenance. The applications provided by this wireless technology include high-throughput scalability, minimalistic hardware, customizable automation, scheduled and selective experiments, and global remote access. Neuroscience researchers will not excuse ...
