ABSTRACT
Drayton Hall in South Carolina constructed in mid 18th century, and one of the features that make the building sustainable is that the widows are placed to control temperatures unlike other building in the area. The design takes into consideration temperature fluctuations with efforts to limit the changes, while conservation efforts have been made to limit moisture damage.One of proposed strategies to preserve the building is lifting the portico, which may have rotted because of the materials used even as concrete has been added to hold the beams. However, concrete carbonates affect the building’s durability since there is corrosion that increases the risk of cracking and more moisture.
