Hi! Although the discussion incorporates impressive background information central to connecting the socialization concept to mentorship, it failed to define organizational socialization clearly. I agree that human resource training and onboarding activities should be geared at supporting the socialization of a new employee in organizational or occupational culture. Organizational socialization is the process via which human resource managers create a mutual understanding between the new employee and administrative functions and culture (Moyson et al., 2018).
I found it impressive how you connected the importance of First Line Supervisory Training (FLST) to the mentorship concept. In this context, FLST and mentorship programs for new officers serve the same goals. They both demonstrate to new officers how the agency conducts its craft. This experience can only be achieved through mentorship and training to support officer congruence to organizational culture and operations. It was also impressive that your mentorship experience entailed imparting knowledge to a new generation of police officers, demonstrating your capacity as a role model within the police force. Unfortunately, your discussion does not incorporate negative aspects of the mentorship experience.
Regarding integrating the Christian worldview into supporting criminal justice organizations in supporting their culture, leadership capacity to demonstrate and share insights with their followers is central to creating a culture of shared decision-making and cultivating a cohesive work environment. Proverbs 27 verse 7 perfectly fits your example of how criminal justice organizations shape and nourish their corporate culture. Based on biblical insight, criminal justice organization leaders should ensure continuous career improvement through educational opportunities, including sharing wisdom with their followers.
