Final Project Milestone 4: Peer Critique
As you prepare to write the final version of your persuasive essay, it is important to incorporate feedback into your revisions. This feedback helps you focus on trouble spots in your essay that you may not have noticed, and it helps you produce a final version that is polished and ready for submission. In this Final Project Milestone, you write a critique of a colleague's essay. At the same time, a colleague reviews your essay and provides you with constructive feedback that you can incorporate into your Final Project.
To prepare:
Review the Final Project Introduction in Week 1 as needed to ensure that your Milestone submissions fit within the larger context of the overall assignment.
Review the following in The Longman Writer: Rhetoric, Reader, Research Guide, and Handbook:
•Chapter 8, "Revising Sentences and Words" (pp. 91–114)
What are some ways that you can make sentences clearer and more interesting to read? How can you vary your word choice to strengthen your writing?
•Part VI, "A Concise Handbook" 
◦"Verbs" (pp. 611–615) 
◦"Pronouns" (pp. 615–622) 
◦"Modifiers" (pp. 622–624)
Your Instructor will assign you one peer essay to review. Using the revision and peer-review techniques described in this week's readings, critique the persuasive essay.
•Consider the point of view presented by the persuasive essay. How well does the writer anticipate skeptics and naysayers in the essay? What is your personal experience regarding the topic of your peer's persuasive essay?
•Consider reviewing the persuasive essay at the paragraph (big picture) level first and then narrow it down to the sentence level. How effective is the writer's use of quotation and summary?
The Assignment:
Write a 1-page critique of a peer's persuasive essay using the elements of writing.
•Be sure to include at least one quotation from the persuasive essay.
•Check for and correct verbs, pronouns, and modifiers in your writing.
Formatting Expectations:
•Indent the first sentence of each paragraph. Block paragraphs are not acceptable for this assignment.
Your final document should:
•Be in a 10- or 12-point font, such as Arial or Verdana 
•Be double-spaced throughout 
•Have 1-inch margins for top, bottom, left, and right 
•Include your full name and the assignment title on the document

The views are justified form scientific and researched data form the national research council. The argument presented in this posting presents a fundamental basis on high school drop outs and importance of motivation. The essay is focused on the motivational tools that can be used to curb incidences of school dropout. The writer found out that most high school students who dropped out of school lacks motivation. This revelation is contrary to popular belief that school dropout were students failing their grades. In this essay it was found out that 7 in 10 students reported being not motivated to work( National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine (2004).The author justifies this argument using scientific data obtained from The National Research Council and the Civil Enterprises that showed 6 out of 10 students with high GPA.
