Due to the government's frequent website monitoring and blocking, China's internet censorship is seen as more extensive. Internet platforms use a system of self-censorship to impose social control on the right to free expression, which sometimes sparks anti-government demonstrations. Additionally, the Chinese government wants to restrict knowledge about it. Recently, concerns about China's internet censorship over information flow and freedom of speech have grown. There is mounting evidence that China's internet restriction affects young adults who utilize social media in their critical thinking and knowledge of current events. The development of young adult social media users’ necessary thinking abilities and worldviews is harmed by internet restrictions in China.
The results of the research on the filtering of the internet shed light on the ubiquitous nature of censorship in China and the adverse influence that it has on the development of young people. Censorship is a practice that restricts young people's access to information and the propagation of ideas, which has a detrimental effect on their development as individuals (Wang & Mark, 2015). The results of the research indicate that censorship in China has a negative impact on children's overall growth and development and that this issue has to be addressed as soon as feasible. The purpose of this study is to investigate how censorship of the internet in China affects the understanding and perspectives of the world held by young people between the ages of 18 and 25 who are active users of social media.
