Assume you are asked to write a column for a HIGH SCHOOL newspaper/magazine. Imagine you are trying to capture the imagination of an average high schooler, you want your audience to like science.
Write an original article about some of the problems encountered with microbes or some uses microbes have provided for our quality of life.
Include a bibliography (references from which your writing is based) of at least 4 sources. Indicate in your article which reference/source was used and where. Microbes are tiny organisms that can only be observed through a microscope are mostly associated with causing diseases. Among the most commonly known microbes are bacteria, viruses, yeasts, fungi and moulds. Microbes can be found anywhere in the environment including air, soil and water (Finkel et al., 2017). The harmful ones are those that alter food and cause diseases are mostly viruses, parasites, bacteria and fungi. Viruses infect cells and cause diseases such as HIV and coronavirus and antiviral drugs are one way to deal with viral diseases and infections. Bacteria also cause diseases in plants, animals and human beings and antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections in animals and people, but there is a risk of a antimicrobial resistance (Kalia,, 2014) . Pathogenic microbes can also cause food poisoning, and this affects human health.
