Eating is a crucial part of human lives. Diet can also keep blood vessels healthy or contribute to obstruction. For instance, eating certain types of food can lead to atherosclerosis, which is the hardening and thickening of arteries. When calcium and cholesterol build up in the lining of the blood vessels, a person increases the risk of angina, peripheral artery, and coronary heart diseases (Richards, 2020).
Individuals should avoid foods with high levels of calories and saturated fat, such as red meat. That does not mean that people should stop eating red meat, but they should reduce their consumption to improve the health of their blood vessels by preventing obstruction. Specifically, blood vessels play a vital role in the delivery of essential nutrients and oxygen to all body organs (Profaci et al., 2020). Moreover, individuals should avoid eating fast food, such as pizza, fries, and burgers so that they can maintain the health of their arteries and heart.
As some types of food contribute to the obstruction of blood vessels, others might clear the plaque.
