Make sure to select an individual who can provide sufficient information regarding how that organization manages risk within its facility to answer the questions below.
In your interview, address the following:
Identification of the challenges the organization faces in controlling infectious diseases.
Risk management strategies used in the organization's infection control program, along with specific examples.
How the facility's educational risk management program addresses key professional issues, such as prevention of negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability.
Policies the facility has implemented that address managing emergency triage in high-risk areas of health care service delivery.
Strategies the facility utilizes to monitor and maintain its risk management program.
Post-interview, compose a 750-1,000 word summary analysis of the interview to include the questions above as well as the following elements:

Risk assessment and management is essential in every organization since it plays a vital role in enabling the firm to recover from calamities. It is important to have such a department in the health sector because it would help in ensuring smooth flow of operations. This interview involves a risk management director from Huntington Hospital and he will help us understand how the risk management department helps the organization in managing risks within the facility.
Interviewer: Identify the challenges your organization faces when controlling infectious diseases.
Interviewee: The hospital applies both standard and transmission based provisions in preventing the transmission of infectious diseases. However, the institution still faces several challenges related to the same issue, for example, we have had problems related to false perceptions and superstitions held by both patients and health professionals. They believe that being in contact with a patient increases their chances of acquiring the same diseases even when the disease is not transmittable. To suppress this worry, the facility had developed and implemented standards for precautions to safeguard and reduce the extent of fear among the caregivers and the patients. Importantly, the organization has emphasized that these guidelines should be observed regardless of the diagnosis. This strategy has helped us overcome the transmission of multi-drug resistance organism.
Previously, the organization has also faced challenges in improving its monitoring mechanisms during and after the endgame. Normally, when we are close to eliminating a particular infectious disease, we usually have a few remaining cases that require close monitoring to prevent new outbreaks. The problem we have here is designing an effective surveillance strategy that may help in confirming the elimination of the illness and also aid in preventing re-emergence (Klepac et al., 2015).
Interviewer: What risk management strategies does your organization use in its infection control program
Interviewee: We have implemented several strategies in our infection control program. First, we have enacted policies to improve and maintain high levels of hygiene. For example hand hygiene and environmental hygiene. This is one of the basic and simplest approaches that the organization has employed in preventing the spreading of infections. Caregivers have been advised to always wash their hands and put on sterile gloves when attending to the patients (Hughes, 2008). The same guidelines have been given to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) attendants. Environmental hygiene is also essential in preventing infections which might be caused by microbial bacterial which have the ability to survive on the environmental surfaces. Besides, we have also implemented guidelines that require proper use of personal protective apparatus such as eyewear, face mask and face shield to minimize and avoid cases of transmission from a patient to a caregiver.
